Huge race field traveled to Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, for the first round of 2017 iXS European Downhill Cup. For our team this is a home race, which makes is very special. The most special was the grand finale, when Jure took his first every victory in the series. Result is a confirmation of great form that he’s showing and after second place on Downhill Lošinj and 34th place in Lourdes his best result so far this season.
Jure Žabjek: “On Friday the track was still wet and quite difficult, it has a lot of sections with roots. By Saturday the track was already dry. I put together good runs on both Saturday and Sunday. I had some reserve on the top part on both days, but I was very quick in the second half and I gained a lot there. I'm really happy to take my first victory on the iXS European Cup race! At the same time this also gives me a good position to go for the overall.”
Jure has a hard weekend behind him. He was faced by a hard competition and a loss of his grandfather, but keep his mind focused and took well deserved win.
Žiga Pandur was our second “super-finalist”, he was 13th on the end which rounds up great weekend success.
Meanwhile in UK
Taylor Vernon took third on the Pearce Cycles Downhill race in Bridgewood. He already won one round of the series, this time he had to settle for the last stand on the podium.
Congratulations to the whole team!
